Train communications of the port city of Chittagong with the rest of the country remained suspended as a Chittagong-bound intercity train derailed at Gobindapur in Sadar upazila here on Wednesday morning.
Irfanul Islam, assistant executive engineer of Comilla railway, said a bogie of the Chittagong-bound ‘Jalalabad Express’ coming from Sylhet veered off the tracks around 11:45am, disrupting the train communications of Chittagong with Dhaka, Sylhet and Mymensingh.
However, there was no report of any casualty.
A relief train from Laksham was on its way to the spot to salvage the bogie.
Meanwhile, Chittagong-bound ‘Mohanagar Provati’ from Dhaka got stranded in Comilla while Dhaka-bound ‘Chattala Express’ at Laksham.
