DCCI seeks steps to attract investment from NRBs

It urges BD Kuwait envoy to work for resuming manpower export

President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) M Sabur Khan has sought government steps through Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait so that the non-resident Bangladeshi entrepreneurs living in Kuwait invest in Bangladesh.

Sabur Khan conveyed it to newly appointed Bangladesh Ambassador to Kuwait Maj Gen Ashab Uddin on Tuesday and sought his role in this regard, according to DCCI media release issued on Wednesday.

The DCCI president also underscored the need for establishing close contact with the Kuwait Chamber, and urged for issuing migration visa to Bangladeshi people.

Sabur Khan said manpower export from Bangladesh to Kuwait remained stopped for a long time, and requested the Ambassador to work on the issue to resume manpower export to Kuwait.

He also emphasised market expansion in Kuwait for Bangladeshi non-traditional exportable items and assured Ashab Uddin that DCCI Research Cell will conduct an extensive study on the bilateral trade issues between Bangladesh and Kuwait and inform him later.

Ashab said Kuwait and Bangladesh have long been maintaining a very good relation.

He assured the DCCI President that he would try his best to persuade the NRB entrepreneurs in Kuwait to invest in Bangladesh and engage themselves in Bangladesh’s economic activities.

Besides, he expressed his keen intention to strengthen bilateral trade relations between Bangladesh and Kuwait more.

The envoy said he will also work for smoothening fuel import from Kuwait.

Senior vice president of DCCI Nessar Maksud Khan, vice president Absar Karim Chowdhury and director Alhaj Abdus Salam were present at the meeting.

Ashab Uddin will leave Bangladesh for Kuwait soon.
