The Detective Branch of police is searching to arrest Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, wanted in several cases, additional commissioner of DB of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Mohammad Harun-Or-Rashid told a media briefing on Sunday.
Replying to a query of journalists at his Mintu Road office in Dhaka, he said ‘We are looking for Rizvi to bring him under the law as he is an accused in several cases . . . but he is involved in anti-democratic election campaigns. He is talking against the state and the constitution as well.’
Harun apprehended that the BNP leader would be arrested very soon as earlier many senior BNP leaders were arrested on charges of criminal offenses.
In response to another question, the DB chief said that a sick person announced the movement after a while.
‘How does a sick person announce these movements? If he is really sick, he can appear in the court. And if anyone fails to appear in court feigning illness, our law enforcement forces will surely arrest them,’ he said.
