Joins AL’s election campaign but rules out contesting JS polls
Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Thursday said people will witness a new stunt with the Awami League launching a new campaign strategy, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports.
“Keep watching, we are going to launch our new strategies within the next three days,” Joy said during a views exchange meeting with journalists at Awami League president’s Dhanmondi office.
He confirmed that he would take part in AL’s election campaign but ruled out any possibility that he would contest the 10th parliamentary election.
“I have come to help the party (AL). I will participate in the campaign. But I have no intention to contest the election at this moment,” Prothom Alo quoted Joy, who lives in the US, as saying.
The newspaper quoted AL sources to be saying that Joy would take part in election campaigns from Sunday.
Joy emphasised on promotional campaigns, laying out a plan for the AL to open Facebook pages for all 300 of its election candidates.
He also advised AL leaders and workers to go to mosques to give apt replies to what he said propaganda against the party.
The PM’s son said he would not play a role in selecting candidates for the upcoming general election due between October 27 and January 24.
“We are conducting surveys with the help of different organisations and consulting with the party’s grassroots to select the candidates,” he said.
The PM’s son claimed that the AL-led government has implemented 90 percent of its election pledges.
He urged the media to maintain a balance between positive and negative criticisms of the government.
