Secretary General of D-8 (Developing-8) Dr Seyed Ali Mohammad Mousavi has congratulated Sheikh Hasina on her reelection as Bangladesh Prime Minister following the 10th parliamentary elections.
In a message to Hasina, Dr Mousavi expressed his deep confidence that during her second consecutive term and under her able and visionary stewardship, Bangladesh would be able to address all the future challenges.
He also hoped that Bangladesh would play its due role both at the regional and international levels, particularly with regard to the D-8, according to a Foreign Ministry media release issued on Friday.
The Secretary General also expressed his desire to further strengthen the fraternal and cooperative relations among the member countries, taking it to a higher level through collective endeavors towards achieving the common goals as enshrined in the Istanbul Declaration of 1997.
D-8, also known as Developing-8, is an organisation for development cooperation among the following countries — Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey.
