The National Board of Revenue on Thursday evening transferred assistant commissioner of customs Sushanta Paul to Rangpur from Khulna and he was released immediately on Thursday following his recent alleged false and defamatory post on Facebook about Dhaka University.
The board also asked the Rangpur customs commissioner to take necessary initiatives for Sushanta’s psychological treatment.
The revenue board made the decision just few hours after a Dhaka University student filed a defamation suit with Shahbag police station against Sushanta under Section 57 of the Information and Communication Technology Act.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate director general Moinul Khan in a Facebook post said that the revenue board formed a probe committee against Sushanta.
He may lose his job if the allegation is proved, he said.
