CU teachers to observe 1- hr strike on Sept 13-16

The teachers of Chittagong University will observe a one-hour work abstention from Saturday to Tuesday protesting bomb attack on a bus carrying teachers of the university in Hathazari upazila here on Wednesday.

CU Teachers’ Association (CUTA) took the decision at its executive committee meeting on Thursday, association’s general secretary Prof Dr Mustafizur Rahman Siddique told UNB.

He said the teachers will also hold a meeting protesting the incident on September 17.

“If action is not taken against those involved in the attack by September 16, we will announced tougher programme from out Sept 17 meeting”, he said.

At least 12 people, including nine teachers of Chittagong University (CU), were injured as miscreants hurled bombs at a bus carrying them at Chhararkul in Hathazari upazila on Wednesday morning.

The teachers who fell victims to the attack blamed Islami Chhatra Shibir activists for the incident.

Meanwhile, two cases were filed accusing over 70 people, including Islami Chhatra Shibir Chittagong University unit president, in this connection on Wednesday night.
