Chittagong metropolitan activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal have again clashed among themselves after the BNP office of the city was torched over a new committee a few days ago.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner (Panchlaish zone) Abdur Rauf told bdnews24.com at least seven people, including General Secretary of the new committee Belayet Hossain Bulu, were injured in clashes on Wednesday.
Some activists of the BNP’s student wing torched the opposition party’s office at Chittagong on Jul 24, infuriated after being left out of that new committee.
Wednesday’s clashes erupted in the evening near West Khulsi Wireless Gate.
Witnesses said the supporters of Sirajuddaula and Bulu beat up some members of their opponent after the Iftar.
In retaliation, the supporters of the leaders who were left out of the new committee announced Jul 21 attacked the house of Bulu at the West Khulsi at around 9pm.
They also set on fire a motorcycle parked in front of the house.
Gazi Sirajuddaula, President of the committee, however said: “The attackers are agents to Chhatra League.”
The other injured are Monir Ahmed, Mohammad Sagir, Syed Ali Rabbi, Raihan, Sharif and Abdul Hai.
