Covid-19 deaths in 24 hours below 80: 78 dead, 3,031 infected

Seventy-eight people have died from Covid-19 during 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). 

With this the total number of deaths reached 11,228 and death rate stands at 1.49 percent.

At least 3,031 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 7,51,659, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 12.51 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.93 percent.

A total of 24,237 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).

At least 5,234 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 6,66,927 and the recovery rate at 88.73 percent.

Among the 78 deceased, 45 were men and 33 women while three were between 31-40 years old, seven within 41-50, 15 between 51-60 and 53 were above 60 years old, added the release.
