Bangladesh Islami Chharta Shibir has called a dawn-to-dusk countrywide hartal for Sunday.
In a statement, Shibir announced the hartal programme to protest killing, abduction, shooting, torture, vandalising of houses, and arrest of their leaders and activists.
Shibir central president Abdul Jabbar and secretary general Atiqur Rahman alleged the government has chosen cruel and inhuman path being failed to restrain the people’s movement politically.
The government has deployed its law enforcement agencies to kill our leaders.
“Five leaders and activists have been shot dead in Chittagong, Chapainawabganj, Dhaka, Rajshahi and Comilla in a month,” the statement said.
It claimed the government agencies shot wounded more than 100 Shibir leaders and activists in their legs from point black position.
Two were killed and 14 leaders and activists shot wounded in their legs in last 24 hours, Shibir also claimed in the statement.
