The government launched circular bus service on the Hatirjheel’s expressway from this morning aiming to ease commuters’ sufferings.
Housing and public works minister Mosharraf Hossain inaugurated the service for commuters from Tejgaon, Gulshan, Badda, Banasree, Rampura, Niketan, Madhubag, Mahanagar project, Ulan and Moghbazar areas.
Since Hatirjheel project’s inauguration on January 2, 2013, commuters of the areas suffered everyday travelling from the eastern part to the western part of the city as the project did not allow any public transports to ply the Hatirjheel expressway.
Primarily, four non-air-conditioned buses with accommodation of 27 passengers will be available for travel on the expressway and the buses will stop at Rampura, Mahanagar project, Madhubag, Celebration Point near Tongi diversion road, Begunbari, Kunipara, Aarong, Police Plaza and Merul Badda points.
The fare for each trip for a passenger has been set at Tk 15 from Rampura to Celebration Point via Mahanagar project and Madhubag, and the same fare from Celebration Point to Rampura via Begunbari, Police Plaza and Merul Badda.
The minimum fare has been fixed at Tk 10 for a passenger to travel a short distance like Rampura to Madhubag. The circular buses would start its services for commuters from 7:00am and close the services at 11:00pm.
