Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Monday scheduled November 23 to take deposition of witnesses in a case filed Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader MK Anwar accusing him of defamation and destroying religious harmony.
The court also framed charges against the leader in the case filed under the Information and Communication Technology Act 2013.
Anwar was present in the court and claimed him innocent. He also demanded justice.
Earlier, MK Anwar addressed a press conference on May 6 in Dhaka a day after Hefajat-e-Islam rally in the city that was followed by complete mayhem and chaos.
He complained that a group of rioters led by Swechchhasebak League leader Debashish Biswas looted several shops at Baitul Mokarram area. The rioters set fire to religious texts, including Quran.
