The cases, filed under the Explosives Act and several other sections of the penal code, accuse 43 others.
Chapainawabganj Sadar police station OC Bazlur Rashid said Juba Dal’s Chapainawabganj unit President Obaidul Islam Pathan filed the cases on Sunday evening naming 19 persons.
Juba Dal activists in the district had taken out a rally on Saturday, brandishing brooms against Papia, demanding she be expelled from the party for allegedly making derogatory remarks against BNP’s Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman.
According to the case details, several unidentified miscreants, allegedly at Papia’s behest, attacked the business establishment of Pathan in the city, and hurled a homemade bomb at his residence later in the day.
Juba Dal leaders had claimed the BNP MP, known for her rhetoric, had made offensive remarks against Tarique in an audio clip posted on the Internet.
Papia, however, refuted the claims, saying the voice was not hers and that the clip was a plot to defame her.
