A case has been filed against the Managing Director of Lab Aid Hospital, AM Shamim, and five doctors under the section of penal code 304 for deaths due to their negligence.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Emdadul Haque ordered to the vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) to conduct an investigation into the matter and submit the report before the court on July 13.
The plaintiff Mahmuda Ahamad, wife of victim Nasir Uddin, filed a petition with the court against Shamim and five doctors of the Lab Aid Hospital on Sunday afternoon.
The others accused are APM Shorab Uzzaman, Lokman Hossain and Emdad Hossain.
According to the case details, the victim Nasir Uddin from Daudkandi of Comilla was admitted into the Lab Aid Hospital. The doctor suggested an angiogram test for him and after the test the doctor told him he had some heart blockages.
Later they suggested him for a bypass surgery and on April 5 Nasir underwent a bypass surgery.
After the surgery the patient developed breathing problems and died in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on April 25.
In this connection the wife of the victim, Mahmuda Akter, filed the case against the Lab Aid managing director and four doctors of the hospital alleging that her husband died due to doctors’ negligence.
