Two more Bangladeshis were shot dead by the Border Security Force of India in Kurigram and Jhenidah early Friday.
According to Bangladesh home ministry, 109 Bangladeshi civilians were killed by the BSF in the borders between January 2012 and April 2016.
At least 14 more Bangladeshi civilians were shot dead by the force since mid-May, when top officials of Border Guard Bangladesh and the Indian Security Force met in Dhaka.
According to the memorandum of understanding and related treaties signed between Bangladesh and India, if citizens of either country illegally cross the border, it would be considered trespassing and as per laws, those people should be handed over to the civilian authorities.
New Age correspondent in Jhenidah reported that Jashim Mandal, 38, was shot dead by the BSF troops along Baghadanga border at Maheshpur upazila early Friday.
BGB-58 battalion director Lieutenant Colonel Tajul Islam said that they were informed that a number of cattle traders entered the Indian territory through Baghadanga frontier under Moheshpur to bring cattle heads around 3:30am.
As they reached near Hazrakhali, a team of BSF’s Ramnagar camp opened fire on the Bangladeshi cattle traders, leaving Jasim dead on the spot, he said.
Tajul said the body was taken away by the BSF, and a letter was sent to the force to return the body as soon as possible.
The BGB official said a flag meeting over the matter was scheduled to be held between the BGB and the BSF later on Friday.
New Age correspondent in Kurigram reported that another Bangladeshi youth was shot dead by BSF troops along Goytarpar frontier in Roumari upazila early on the day.
The deceased was identified as Dukhu Mia, 28, son of Abdul Hye of village Fakirpara in the upazila.
Commanding officer of Jamalpur BGB-35 Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Rafiqul Islam said the BSF members opened fire on some Bangladeshi men when they went near the main pillar no 1068 around 5:00am, leaving Dukhu Mia dead on the spot.
A letter has been sent to the BSF authorities protesting the incident, he said.
The body of Dukhu was handed over to the BGB in the noon.
