Both DSE, CSE in red for 2nd consecutive session Sunday

Country’s both the bourses — Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) — experienced downturn for the second consecutive session on Sunday, the first trading day of the week, as the prices of most of the issues ended in red.

 

The two bourses experienced the downturn on Thursday after a long positive trend of more than 10 consecutive days.

 

On Sunday, the volume of trade in terms of value and quantity at both the bourses was lower than on Thursday. Most of the traded issues of the day included those from textile, food and beverage, and some other sectors.

 

The DSE benchmark index, DSEX lost 71.23 points or 1.62 percent to reach 4324.70 at close of trading today (Sunday). Of the 294 issues traded, 55 gained, 229 declined and 10 remained unchanged.

 

Shares worth Tk 659.04 crore changed hands at the DSE on the day against Tk 728.11 crore on Thursday.

 

The day’s top 10 losers at the DSE were Olympic, Al-Haj Textile, Rahim Food, Information Services, Midas Financing, Jute Spinning, Zeal Bangla, Delta Spinning, Apex Spinning, and Miracle Industries.

 

The CSE key index, CSCX lost 106.67 points to reach 8493.60 at the close today. Of the 221 issues traded, 39 advanced, 174 suffered loss and 8 remained unchanged. The value of the traded issues was Tk 68.35 crore on the day against Tk 85.12 crore on Thursday.

 

Earlier, in the morning, the DSEX gained 19.82 points or 0.45 percent to reach 4415.75 points at 11:10 am today, while the CSCX gained 36.32 points to stand at 8636.60, also at 11:10 am today.
