A total of 38 Bangladeshi lives were lost in border killing in the year 2013, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) authority announced on Thursday.

Director general of the paramilitary BGB, Major General Aziz Ahmed, unveiled the information in a press conference at held at Jessore in the afternoon.

Border killings have remained an issue with India since long. Several attempts have been taken in the past to redeem the killing along the borders.

A director general-level meeting was held between BGB and Indian Border Security Force in Dhaka over regarding this matter in September last year.

During the conference, the official said BGB were engaged in construction of 65 tin-shade buildings for rehabilitation of minorities in Jessore.

The houses, including for the two raped women, is expected to be completed by mid-March, the director general said.

Regional commander of Jessore Brigadier General Shamsur Rahman and 26th BGB commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Matiur Rahman were present in the conference.
