The BNP will take part in next election, but Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina cannot be the chief of that interim government, a senior BNP leader has said
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will participate in the next general election, party’s Vice-Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu has said.
He made the remark at a programme commemorating ASM Hannan Shah at National Press Club on Sunday.
He said: “The BNP will take part in next election, but Sheikh Hasina cannot be the chief of that interim government.”
He also warned of stern action against vote rigging.
After a meeting with 20-party high ups at Nayapaltan, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said: “The Zila Parishad election process is contradictory with the constitution. The decision to participate in this election will be finalised after a meeting with alliance high ups.”
