Bangladesh Nationalist Party will hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on January 5 marking the ‘black day for democracy’.
The party’s acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at a news briefing said the BNP has sought permission to hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan and sent letter to police authorities.
The party observes January 5 as ‘black day for democracy’ that would mark the second anniversary of 2014 general elections.
In 2015, obstruction to a similar attempt of holding rally led three months of agitation that left over a 100 people dead in violence.
