BNP on Thursday threatened to take ‘historic revenge’ if the current ‘fascist and illegal’ regime does not refrain from what it said resorting to repressive acts, killing and forced disappearance.
“The nationalist forces will take historic revenge by ousting the current illegal and fascist government if it doesn’t stop killing people and making them disappeared, and hatching conspiracies,” said BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
The BNP spokesman issued the threat at a press briefing at the BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.
He said though Awami League does not believe in democracy and the country’s independence and sovereignty, it is confusing people by speaking about the spirit of democracy and independence always.
“Awami League’s political culture is based on terrorism, killing, forced disappearance and destruction. They never want Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty,” Rizvi said.
Mentioning that the ruling party ‘cadres’ killed a Chhatra Dal leader, Sujon, at Shibganj upazila Shaheed Minar in Chapainawabganj through a bomb attack when BNP men had been there to pay homage to war heroes marking the great Independence Day, Rizvi said, “This is the example how Awami League nourishes the spirit of Independence and the Liberation War.”
About the next phase of Upazila polls, the BNP leader said the government is sketching out various evil designs to manipulate the March 31 local body polls results into their candidates’ favour.
He alleged that the ruling party men and the law enforcers are raiding the houses of BNP leaders and activists and harassing and intimidating them to rig vote. “The government has completed their all evil acts to snatch people’s voting rights and polls results on March 31.”
