The opposition BNP has praised the role of the current Speaker stating that it was due to her ‘all-round assistance’ that the party MPs are attending the Parliament sessions regularly.
“We are getting a cordial treatment and all sorts of assistances from you,” opposition Acting Chief Whip Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee said to the Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury. “The opposition is in your House.”
“This has glorified your Parliament. We want to continue this trend.”
However, he urged that the opposition be given at least one-third of the time to talk in the Parliament.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was present in the House when the comment was made.
