Provoked by its major ally Jamaat-e-Islami, the BNP has fallen into the trap of ruling Awami League, CPB President Mujahidul Islam Selim has claimed.
“The Awami League realises that people have deserted them and so it is not possible for them to win the elections. That is why they want to ensure their win through a unilateral election,” he said at a rally in Dhaka’s Shahbagh on Saturday.
“BNP, on the other hand, has fallen into Awami League’s trap without accepting the challenge. This is because Jamaat, which wants to create a constitutional crisis, has got the better of them,” Selim said.
The chief of Communist Party of Bangladesh also criticised the ongoing movement of the Opposition.
Human rights activists Khushi Kabir and Shipra Bose also addressed the rally.
The rally followed a sit-in programme, organised by CPB and Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BaSaD), demanding an end to the violence stemming from political crisis.
BaSaD General Secretary Khalequzzaman, among others, spoke at the sit-in programme.
