A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed Mufti Jasimuddin Rahmani, a spiritual leader of Ansarullah Bangla Team, on a seven-day remand in blogger Rajib murder case.
Rajib, also an activist of Shahbagh movement, was hacked to death in the capital’s Pallabi on February 15.
Metropolitan Magistrate Harun-or-Rashid passed the order after Detective Branch (DB) of police produced Rahmani before the court on Tuesday.
Rahmani, 43, was shown arrested in the case on August 15. DB police on the same day sought his 10-day remand.
Police arrested Rahmani and 30 other alleged militants when the group was holding a “secret meeting” at a house in South Khajurtala of Barguna town on August 11.
On March 1, detectives arrested five students of North South University in connection with the murder case.
During interrogation, the students disclosed the name of Rahmani as a key planner of the killing.
Earlier on August 21, a Barguna court placed Rahmani on a four-day remand in another case filed with Barguna Police Station against the 31 under section-57 of Information and Communication Technology Act.
