The much-hyped elections of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) are currently underway after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the game’s governing body was held quite peacefully at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital today.

136 delegates attended the AGM of the local game’s governing body where incumbent president Kazi Salahuddin and general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag have presented their reports while senior vice president and finance committee chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy presented the financial statement.

After the approval of the financial statement, the AGM came to an end for the lunch break.

One of the delegates said that president Salahuddin briefed the development of football he brought in the last 12 years while another delegate informed that the meeting was held peacefully, unlike the previous ones where the delegates raised their voices mentioning different irregularities.

He also said that they collectively decided not to raise voice as all of them are equal.

Meanwhile, as expected, Badal Roy — one of the three candidates contesting for the BFF presidential post — did not turn up at the venue due to physical issue. However, the other two candidates — incumbent president Kazi Salahuddin and former Bangladesh footballer Shafiqul Islam Manik — have been present at the venue since morning.

The elections, which started sometime after 2:00pm, are scheduled to end at 6:00pm.
