Abu Bakar Siddique, husband of Bela chief Syeda Rizwana Hasan, has been abducted from Fatulla area in Narayanganj on Wednesday afternoon.

When contacted, Rizwana Hasan told the Dhaka Tribune that her husband Abu Bakar, a lawyer-entrepreneur, was abducted by some miscreants numbering 7 to 8 from Bhuiyan Filling Station area of Narayanganj.
“Our driver Ripon later informed me about the abduction over phone,” she added.
Siddique’s car driver Ripon told the Dhaka Tribune that they were heading towards the capital after visiting a garment factory in Fatullah. Suddenly, a blue color microbus hit their car from the back at Belpara area at around 3pm.
Both the driver and Siddiqui got down seeing the dent. Suddenly, the unidentified armed miscreants numbering seven to eight jumped out off their microbus and sprayed chemical to the driver’s eye, Ripon informed the correspondent.
Ripon further said: “Later, they forcefully pushed Siddique into their microbus and fled the scene.”
Narayanganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Syeed Nurul Islam rushed to the spot immediately after the abduction and directed the law enforcing agencies to tight surveillance on every gateways of the district.
He said: “Additional forces have deployed in different spots to figure out the kidnappers.”
Rizwana, attorney and environmentalist, is the chief executive of Bangladesh Environment Lawyers Association (Bela). She was awarded the Goldman Environmental Prize in 2009. She was also awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2012.
