Accusing the law enforcers of playing the role of ‘secret killers’ at the government’s behest, BNP on Monday alleged Bangladesh is now on the top of human rights violating countries.
In a statement, BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed said, “The existence of the country and the nation is at stake as Bangladesh is now on top in the competition of violating human rights.“
He said the bullet-ridden bodies of the citizens of independent Bangladesh are found everywhere in the country as the members of law enforcement agencies are playing the role of ‘clandestine killers’.
“Some trigger-happy officials of the law enforcement agencies are on bloodletting spree. The government is reluctant even though the national and international communities, including the UN, the EU, the UK and the USA, have been expressing deep concern over the violation of human rights with state patronage,” the BNP leader observed.
Referring to Jatiya Party chairman’s Sunday’s remarks at a meeting of his party, Salahuddin said recognised autocrat HM Ershad has finally branded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as a greater autocrat than him.
The BNP leader termed fabricated story the attempts to kidnap incident of Prime Minister’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
He strongly condemned and protested the ‘indecent’ remarks of the ‘unelected MPs’ in parliament involving the BNP high command in the imaginary story of Joy’s kidnap plot.
