Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) is going to organise the country’s first ever “IT Marketing Forum” on July 8.
The forum aimed at major expansion of ICT through awareness drive.
BASIS is organising the event to groom the country’s IT professionals on brand building. In the day-long event at Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in the city, the Marketing Gurus and experts from the IT world would highlight the various aspects of marketing and brand-building, said Russell T Ahmed, Convener of the IT Marketing Forum at a press conference at BASIS conference room on Saturday.
“Despite having immense potentiality, the country’s IT market is not getting the limelight and exposure. This can be changed by properly marketing the sector whose estimated size is US$ 400 million,” added Ahmed, who is also the Secretary General of BASIS.
He informed the industry has approximately 70,000 professionals, majority of them IT and other graduates. “We have another US$400 billion global market for IT.”
“Although this sector is growing rapidly but in comparison to other countries, this number is very low and one of the major reasons behind this slow expansion is the lack of knowledge, demonstration capability, marketing knowledge, etc,” Ahmed said.
“Realising this, BASIS is organising the IT Marketing Forum, where we expect to hear from Marketing Gurus about the various aspects of IT Marketing.”
Renowned Marketing Gurus from home and abroad will share their views and experiences with IT professionals and entrepreneurs of Bangladesh in the day-long forum, he said.
The day-long even will be held in four sessions on different topics namely – “Marketing and Communication for IT Industry”, “Marketing: an Investment or Expenditure?” The Power of IT Brands” and “Bangladesh Next: The Context of Country Branding”.
Brand experts of top international and local brands – Google, Yahoo, Grey, Kaspersky, GP IT, Airtel, The Daily Star, bKash will share their views and experiences in these four sessions.
BASIS strongly believes with proper implementation of marketing strategies, IT companies in Bangladesh will be able to achieve exponential growth in the years to come.
BASIS realises every individual IT company needs better marketing concept to explore product or service as a brand.
On the other hand, the country’s ICT industry also needs to be branded positively to attract international buyers.
BASIS President Fahim Mashroor, Senior Vice President Shameem Ahsan and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Grameenphone IT Ltd, Rony Riad Rashid also addressed the press conference.
