Barcelona will not be holding any meeting with star forward Lionel Messi to discuss the Argentine’s exit and the Catalan club remain firm about his €700m release clause, according to a report by Marca.
Spanish football reporter Guillem Balague also claimed the same thing.
Messi shocked the footballing world on Tuesday night when he informed Barcelona through burofax that he would like to see his future elsewhere, demanding to move away from Barcelona on a free transfer by triggering a certain clause in his contract.
And according to El Periodico, Messi has asked for a meeting with the club as he continues to seek a move away.
However, Barcelona are not budging from their position – they will not sell unless his release clause is met – and are refusing to hold talks with their captain.
Barcelona players are supposed to show up for their medical examinations tomorrow ahead of their first official training session under newly appointed coach Ronald Koeman on Monday. It will be interesting to see if Messi turns up for the medical examination as that could give a clear indication of what could come next.
