The agreements were entered into after a Bangladesh-China joint business forum met at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on Friday evening.

Some 19 trade deals were signed between 15 Bangladeshi companies and as many Chinese firms at the event in the presence of Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, FBCCI President Abdul Matlub Ahmad said.

A total of 86 business delegations are accompanying the Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The meeting with the delegations and Bangladeshi businessmen was organised by FBCCI and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

Business leaders from both the countries spoke on the occasion and the business representatives of the two nations exchanged ideas.

The FBBCI president said after the meeting, “A total of 19 deals were inked between us. We hope that the number will go up to 50 in future. Chinese investors will surely profit from investments in Bangladesh.”

CCPIT Vice-Chairman Chen Zhou said, “In terms of infrastructure development of Bangladesh, it has remained limited to banks. We will invest in investment parks. There are many entrepreneurs in our delegation who want to invest in this country.”

He said Chinese investors were considering investing in infrastructural development, leather, readymade garments, pharmaceutical, automobile and other popular sectors of Bangladesh.
