Bangladesh and Afghanistan were declared joint champions of the tri-nation T20 series as the final was washed out on Tuesday. It was a frustrating end to an otherwise exciting tournament, which saw Zimbabwe captain Hamilton Masakadza play his last T20 game where he scored a fifty to bring his team’s only win in the series, against Afghanistan.
The quickfire fifty of youngster Afif Hossain is another highlight, Bangladesh winning that game from a losing position.
In the group stages, Bangladesh were humbled by Afghanistan in the first meeting of the teams, but in the second game between the sides, Shakib Al Hasan starred in an easy win for the Tigers.
Bangladesh’s next challenge will be the India tour where they will play three T20 games and two Test matches, including one at the Eden Gardens.
These Tests will be the first games the Tigers play in the ICC World Test Championship.
