Bamboo instead of rod: Official transferred to Khagrhachharhi as punishment

Another advisor involved with the controversial construction at Chuadanga was transferred to Barguna after his lien was cancelled, the agriculture ministry said on Tuesday in a media statement.

But the ministry did not name the project director or the advisor despite providing many of the details.

Both have been asked to join their new workplaces within a day.

Local administration closed down the construction of the government building at Darshana in Chuadanga after the use of bamboo instead of iron rods was discovered.

Media reports brought this to the notice of the agricultural extension department, and it formed a three-member investigation team on Apr 7.

Deputy Assistant Engineer Kamrun Nahar, responsible for supervising the construction, has also been asked to explain her conduct over the controversy, the statement added.

It said, “As punishment, the project director has been transferred to Khagrhachharhi and the advisor to Barguna.”
