Awami League earned Tk124 mln in 2013

A total of 35 parties out of 39 registered parties have submitted their annual audit report so far

The ruling party Awami League earned Tk124 million in 2013, while its expenditure was Tk67 million, according to the party audit report submitted to the Election Commission.

A four-member AL delegation comprising of party Office Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap, Deputy Office Secretary Mrinal Kanti Das, advocate ABM Reazul Kabir Kawsar and Swecchasebok League leader Pankaj Debnath submitted the report for year 2013 to additional secretary of the EC secretariat Mokhlesur Rahman on Sunday, BSS reported.

The main source of the party’s income was from selling nomination papers for the last general election (2014), advocate ABM Reazul said.

He said a total of 2,608 nomination papers were sold, each costing Tk25 thousand.
Other sources of income included fees from primary membership, subscription fees from its central committee members, among others.
Regarding party’s expenses, ABM Reazul said it covered accommodation costs, hospitality bill, election campaigns, holding rallies and seminars.

A total of 35 parties out of 39 registered parties have submitted their annual audit report so far and August 31 is the last date for submitting the report.
