Avijit Roy murder : Jamaat demands UN supervised investigation

Jamaat-e-Islami demands UN supervised investigation into the murder of blogger Avijit Roy
Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 1st March, 2015 to investigate into the gruesome and brutal murder of blogger and writer Avijit Roy by United Nations supervised strong probe committee in order to bring the real killers to the book.
“Already we have condemned the brutal murder of blogger and writer Avijit Roy. We never support such terrorist and violent act; rather we hate and condemn such ill deeds sincerely. We also called upon the concerned authorities to probe into this murder repeatedly. But instead of doing so, the government is trying to attain its malign political interest. A vested quarter is assisting the government in plotting this conspiracy and some of them are making false, baseless and concocted comments vindictively just to demonize Jamaat-e-Islami. We are protesting and gainsaying such intentional role.

The suspicious role of the government has emanated questions among the people. How the miscreants became able to escape the restricted area under the surveillance of law enforcers and in presence of hundreds of people after committing this barbarous murder? The government has to answer this question.
We again reiterating that, a fair and impartial investigation is needed under the supervision of the United Nations in a bid to find out the real motives of the murder and to bring the murderers to justice. We hope and believe the inclusion of the United States in the investigation will make the entire process more effective and impartial.

Along with our demands of fair investigation and justice of this brutal murder, we are calling upon the vested quarters to refrain from making intentional and irresponsible remarks. Otherwise, the real motive of this murder would remain in darkness and the killers would be spared due to our indecent, unjust and unnecessary political tricks.
