Australia issues high alerts to its citizens in Bangladesh

The Australia government has issued an alert for its citizens living in Bangladesh ahead of Christmas and New Year citing that security agencies in Bangladesh have been continuing to arrest people connected to militant and terrorist organisations and some of these groups have an anti-Western outlook.

It asked its citizens to limit their attendance at events where foreigners may gather.

In a message on its website it advised Australian citizens in Bangladesh to maintain a high level of vigilance in public places including restaurants, hotels and other places frequented by foreigners.

The message also reads Australians should exercise particular caution when visiting public places during the holiday period around Christmas and New Year. Further attacks are likely, including against Western interests.

The level of advice has not changed. You should exercise a high degree of caution in Bangladesh, the website also highlighted.
