Recently removed LGRD and cooperatives minister Syed Ashraful Islam has been made the Public Administration minister.
Cabinet Division published a gazette notification in this regard on Thursday.
Also Awami League General Secretary, Syed Ashraf, was scheduled to leave for London at 10am Thursday to celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr with his family.
However, he canceled his London tour following party President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s request on Wednesday.
The premier held a meeting with Ashraf for around two hours at her official residence Gonobhaban in the evening.
Ashraf was made minister without portfolio on July 9 after removing him from the LGRD ministry. He had been serving the ministry since the party came to power in 2009.
After three days of rumour centring his removal, the government finally adopted the decision and Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain was replaced to the post.
Syed Ashraful, son of first acting President of Bangladesh Syed Nazrul Islam in 1971, was appointed as LGRD minister twice in 2009 and 2014.
