2 pilots hurt, copter breaks into 3 pieces
Two pilots were injured as a training helicopter of Bangladesh Army crash landed in Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka Wednesday morning.
The chopper broke into three pieces as it came down to the ground fast at Daikarchar around 9:30am, said Brigadier General Ali Ahmed Khan, director general of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Of the injured, Lt Col Ariful Bari was rushed to Savar Enam Medical College and Hospital while Major Nazrul Islam to Dhaka Combined Military Hospital.
Their condition is stable, Khan said.
On information, a rescue helicopter of the Army and firefighting units of Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the scene.
Wishing anonymity, an official of Inter Services Public Relations said that it was a “forced landing” and that they needed more time to come up with the details.
The helicopter flew from Kurmitola airport in the capital around 8:22am, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports quoting Maj Salauddin.
Villagers said the chopper landed in Balur Char area of Bardail village at about 9:30am.
On information, local people and rushed to the spot and rescued the two pilots.
