A jewellery shop worker who was burnt when pickets hurled petrol bomb at a human hauler at Laxmi Bazar in the capital Sunday during the opposition-enforced 84-hour hartal died in the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital this morning.
Montu Chandra Paul, 32, succumbed to his injuries around 7:45am, said Dr Samanta Lal Sen, project director of the DMCH.
This took the total number of innocent civilian casualties in the last 20 days to five.
Hailed from Narayanganj, Montu worked at jewellery shop at Tanti Bazar.
The condition of Montu worsened Monday.
Doctors said 90 percent of his body was burned and there was little hope of his survival.
Two more victims—Nasima Begum and Abul Kashem — of arson during hartal died in the burn unit of DMCH yesterday.
