National vernacular daily `Amar Desh` will be show-caused for publishing news demeaning Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (pbuh) instigating communal violence in the country recently.
The decision came on Wednesday at a meeting of the committee formed at the directive of the Prime Minister to identify those who made derogatory remarks about Islam and Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) on facebook, internet, blogs, print and electronic media.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Home Ministry Additional Secretary and head of the committee Mainuddin Khandakar warned that any comment made by anyone demeaning Islam and the Prophet will be considered blasphemous and steps will be taken against the offender.
He said there are 2.5 lakh blogs in the country and BTCL will be requested to scrutinise, regulate and monitor these blogs round the clock.
Mainuddin informed that a meeting will be held with Islamic thinkers and scholars to discuss the steps to be taken to stop blasphemous comments sentiment inciting communal violence in the country.
