BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia this afternoon alleged that the ruling Awami League had launched a move to disrupt security of the minority communities in various ways.
Addressing a rally through video conferencing, she called upon the countrymen including opposition leaders and activists to provide security to the life, dignity, property and prayer spaces of all religious believers.
The main opposition party organised the public meeting at the capital’s Suhrawardy Udyan to mark November 7 as the “National Revolution and Solidarity Day”.
On this day in 1975 a “civil-military uprising” led to the release of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman from captivity.
Khaleda urged the people to make united resistance to any kind of instigation that may spark communal violence in the country.
“Conspiracies are underway to frustrate the movement of the people. We must remember that the enemies are active,” the opposition leader warned.
“Now we have to make a national unity instead of division,” said the former premier.
