Awami League MP AKM Bahauddin Bahar has sued Independent TV Chairman Salman F Rahman and three other staff of the private channel for libel.

The Comilla-6 MP lodged the defamation suit demanding Tk 100 million in damages in a Comilla court on Wednesday.
The three other accused are the channel’s Head of News Khaled Muhiuddin, Staff Reporter Mahbubul Alam and Comilla Correspondent SM Solaiman.
After taking it into cognisance, the court set Nov 27 for the case hearing, said the plaintiff’s lawyer Masum Shikder.
According to case details, the channel in a report – ‘Some ministers, MPs assist BNP-Jamaat in misdeeds’ – aired on Sept 29 alleged MP Bahauddin had helped Comilla City Mayor and BNP leader Monirul Haque Sakku to get tender through illegal means.
The ruling party MP accused the four of defaming him by running the ‘false news’.
