An activist of the ruling Awami League was stabbed to death at Eranda marsh of Churamankathi in Jessore on Tuesday.
The dead was identified as Shahidul Islam, 45, an activist of Awami League and also a farmer of the Jhaudia village.
Enamul Haque, officer in-charge, of Kotwali police station told that Shahidul was stabbed to death by his opponent centring strongholds over at a water body at Eranda at around 7:00am on Tuesday. ‘Two factions of Awami League were in loggerhead there’, the OC added.
The body was taken to Jessore Medical College Hospital and post mortem examination.
A faction of Awami League brought out procession in Jessore after post mortem examination carrying the body at noon.
No case was lodged and none was held in connection with the killing.
