Wife of an Awami League leader slapped a teacher and beat him with a shoe on Monday for not extending time to her JSC examinee daughter after the end of the examination, reports UNB.
The incident took place during the JSC English examination at Atwari Model Pilot High School centre in Panchagarh.
Local people said that daughter of Atoari Upazila Awami League Information and Research Affairs Secretary and former Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Kamruzzaman Golap took part in the JSC exam in room number 1 of the examination centre.
The teachers engaged in the examination centre and locals informed that Rozina Akter Rozi, wife of Kamruzzaman Golap, slapped and beat Moklesar Rahman, assistant teacher of Radhanagar Hajee Shahar Ali High School, for not providing time to her daughter even after end of exam duration.
The local residents said that three invigilators including the assistant teacher collected the answer scripts of the examinees. However, the student sought more time as she could not complete writing.
Later, the girl student complained to her mother Rozina Akter for not providing extra time after the exam was over. Hearing the complaints of her daughter, Rozina entered the examination centre and suddenly pulled the collar of the teacher and slapped and beat him.
Afterwards, the matter was resolved in presence of UNO and Upazila Chairman.
Atwari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Syed Mahmud Hasan said that “I immediately went to the examination centre. After discussion between the two sides, mother of the examinee understood her fault and sought apology from the teacher. Later, the matter was resolved upon approval of both the sides.”
