AL invites Oikya Front to dinner at Gono Bhaban
The ruling Awami League will sit with Jatiya Oikya Front for talks over the next general election.
“Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has called me to invite us to a dinner at Gono Bhaban,” Gono Forum general secretary Mostafa Mohsin told Prothom Alo on Monday night.
However, no date has been fixed for the meet yet.
Mohsin presumes the dialogue may take place on Tuesday or Wednesday. “We will get to know tomorrow (Tuesday),” he said.
Quader asked Mohsin how big the Oikya Front delegation will be and the latter said around 15 people will join the talk.
On Sunday, Jatiya Oikya Front, led by eminent jurist Kamal Hossain, sent a letter to prime minister Sheikh Hasina seeking a dialogue over the national election.
Oikya Front sent another letter to Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader urging the ruling party to engage in a dialogue over the election.
Kamal Hossain signed the letter sent to the prime minister while Gono Forum general secretary Mostafa Mohsin signed the one sent to Obaidul Quader.
“Awami League has agreed to hold talks with Oikya Front leaders and our president Sheikh Hasina will lead the dialogue,” Obaidul said earlier on Monday, according to UNB.
Quader also said Sheikh Hasina herself took the decision on the talks.
Meanwhile, BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed has welcomed the move.
