Claiming that Awami League does not do the politics of arrest, Health Minister Mohammad Nasim on Wednesday said the country’s judiciary is fully independent.
“Awami League doesn’t do the politics of arrest. We have nothing to do if court doesn’t sanction bail to anyone…the country’s judiciary is completely independent,” he said.
The AL leader said this while addressing a meeting marking the first death anniversary of late President Zillur Rahman organised by Zillur Rahman Smirti Sangsad at the Jatiya Press Club.
Pointing at BNP, Nasim, also the presidium member of the ruling Awami League, said, “Have patience for five years. Organise the party with a cool head as part of the preparation for the next polls. Point out our mistakes through constructive criticisms.”
Speaking on the occasion, Food Minister Quamrul Islam said the players of 1/11 political changeover have become active again. “They are hatching conspiracies to annihilate democracy apart from assassinating the characters of politicians.”
“Sujon (Sushasoner Jonno Nagorik) is working as a lobbyist of a group. Their income source should be identified,” he added.
Awami League presidium member Shahara Khatun, among others, spoke at the programme held with Krishak League vice-president MA Karim in the chair.
