Bangladesh A team players on Sunday expressed satisfaction regarding their recent series win over their Sri Lankan counterparts in the three-match one-day series in Colombo.
Bangladesh showcased a brilliant performance after losing the first-match of the series by seven wickets as they won both their remaining matches to confirm a 2-1 series win over the host team.
Bangladesh registered a thrilling one wicket win in the second match before beating Sri Lanka by 98 runs under Duckworth-Lewis Method in the final match on Saturday to complete the series win.
They earlier drew the two-match unofficial Test series against the same opponents, which ended 0-0.
Bangladesh A team skipper Mohammad Mithun claimed that the honest commitment of the players in his team helped them defeat Sri Lanka in their own soil.
‘Everyone was personally committed. Everyone tried to give their best. The honest commitment of all brought us the result,’ Mithun told reporters in Mirpur on Sunday, upon their arrival from Sri Lanka on the same day.
‘The series was very vital for us. One thing that was going through our minds was that Bangladesh cricket is not passing a good time. We were thinking about bringing back the momentum.
‘Bangladesh A team stands after the national team. We thought if we can win the series against Sri Lanka then it will be a great thing for us,’ said Mithun, who made 105-run in the three-match series with a fifty in the second match.
Pacer Ebadat Hossain, who picked six wickets in the series, was happy with the team’s seamers performances in both formats as he believed they were able to implement their coach’s instructions.
‘I am feeling really happy to win the one-day series and we also performed well in the Test matches. We were well ahead of them [in the series],’ he said.
‘Actually I think it’s a big thing as those who worked with Champaka [Ramanayeke], our [the pacers] first target was to do well in the Test series. Although we couldn’t completely prove ourselves in that way, I think we were able to execute the coach’s plan,’ he added.
Opener Saif Hasan, who was the most successful batsman for Bangladesh A team in the one-day series with 154 runs, with a hundred in the final match, said his seriousness on the field brought him success in the series.
‘Whenever I play a match, I take it very seriously. Because I think every match is important. There was no such thing that selectors were there so I need to perform….I will try to do well wherever I will be given chances,’ he said.
