The Planning Commission has asked the government to formulate a fresh plan to complete the construction of 7km road that was supposed to be ready by 2007.
Works on only 4km stretch of the road, which is 40 percent of the total work, have been completed, spending Tk 183 million, in over one decade.
The incomplete project is currently abandoned.
An estimated Tk 240 million was earmarked for the project that was plagued with myriad of problems since its inception.
Project Directors were changed 22 times in these 11 years.
On January 22, IMED officials conducted a fresh survey of the site and asked the government to draw up a new plan to complete the project.
“We have asked the ministry concerned to complete the project. The ball is now in their court”, Shahidullah Khondokar, who has just been transferred from the post of IMED secretary to Jute and Textiles Ministry, told bdnews24.com.
Once completed the road would connect Rupganj Majhina point to the Rampur highway.
