Echoing the Prime Minister, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim on Sunday said there is no question of holding dialogue with BNP over the next parliamentary elections.
“The election will be held according to constitution,” he said while addressing a discussion, titled ‘Contemporary Politics: Current Situation’, organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote at the Jatiya Press Club in the city.
Nasim, also a presidium member of the ruling Awami League, further said: ”Nowhere in the world it is deemed necessary to hold dialogue before election.”
“The elected government will remain in power till its tenure ends. So, there is no use with threats of ‘oust government movement’ after the Eid,” he added.
Indicating BNP, Nasim said a movement depends on people’s support. “People in the country are now in good condition… BNP won’t be able to wage a successful movement this time as people are not with them.”
Speaking on the occasion, Food Minister Quamrul Islam said Awami League is ready to counter the movement of BNP after Eid.
He said the government will not create any obstacle to BNP’s legitimate movement. But, if they try to harass the people in the name of movement, they will have to pay a high price for such acts.
President of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Tarana Halim, its vice-president ATM Shamsuzzaman, general secretary Arun Sarkar Rana and Dhaka city Awami League organising secretary Shahe Alam Murad were, among others, present at the programme.
