Keeping aside her busy schedule, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday afternoon spent some pleasant time with the country’s leading poets, litterateurs, writers, journalists, academics, artistes and intellectuals.
The Prime Minister held the get together with the eminent personalities at lush green lawn of her official residence, Ganobhaban.
Sheikh Hasina, wearing an ash color saree, came to the lawn at 3:37 pm. She went round the lawn and exchanged pleasantries with the invited guests and also enquired about their wellbeing.
The Prime Minister spent time there gossiping with the guests and enjoying patriotic and folk songs and poems performed by the country’s leading artistes, who were among those invited.
Sheikh Rehana, younger daughter of Bangabandhu, also joined the function with her elder sister and talked to the guests.
The guests were entertained with various kinds of traditional pitha (cakes) like pati-sapta, bhapa and chitoi as well as kebab, paratha, nan roti, sweets, tea, coffee, fuchka and fruits.
Those who performed songs and recited poems included Asaduzzaman Noor, Tarana Halim, Subir Nandy, Rafiqul Alam, Papiya Sarwar, Chanchal Mahmood, Liakat Ali Lucky, Hasan Arif, Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel, Naboneeta Chowdhury, and Koushik Hossain Tapas.
The cultural session ended with the rendering of a chorus song — “Dhono Dhanney Pushpe Bhora, Amader ei Bashundhara”.
