Four leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), including its suspended central leader Saiful Alam Limon, were released on bail on Sunday in a double-murder case.
The remaining accused are organising secretary of BCL Chittagong University unit Alamgir Tipu, cultural affairs secretary of the same unit Zamiruddin and Chittagong Commerce College unit leader M Sharif Ahmed Sharif.
The accused walked out of jail in the evening after a copy of their bail order granted by the High Court on July 29 reached the jail authorities.
The High Court order first reached the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Chittagong at noon, which was later sent to the jail authorities.
On July 24, two people, including an eight-year-old boy, were killed during a gunfight between the activists of BCL and Jubo League over a railway tender in the port city.
Later, police filed a case against 52 people in connection with the double murder.
Following the incident, BCL central committee suspended Limon from the organisation while Jubo League central committee its leader Helal Akbar Chowdhury Babor for their criminal activities.
