Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has renewed her vow to hold next general elections under an interim government.

She has dismissed any possibility of further dialogue on the issue.

Hasina, also the Awami League president, is confident that the government has the ability to implement the budget undertaken by her cabinet.

Speaking at a programme at the capital’s Bangabandhu Convention Centre today on the occasion of the historic 6-point Demand Day she claimed that elections in Bangladesh would take place in line with the norms in other democratic systems.

About the demand of the opposition for the caretaker government she said: “It is the BNP that invited the government to discussion on caretaker government but later it has backtracked.”

Further commenting on the issue she said with the withdrawal from the discussion the BNP literally buried the possibility of any kind of dialogue.

About the criticism of the budget that it is a big, ambitious and surreal budget she asserted: “We have proposed a big budget and the government has the ability to implement it.”
